Throughout this
installment of BEAM on Radio-V, the photographs
taken by dMarie of such artists as Breakbeat Era,
Kaos, LTJ Bukem and The Angel feature the bold,
unique imagery -- enitled "Visual
Junglism" designed by Spectr of Spectrumega
Media. Truely representing the spectrum of light
magic, we are proud to connect you with one of
the worlds most dedicated junglists.
Spectrumega
Media is the brainchild of Lost Angels
artist Spectr and is a celebration of our
scenes foundation in communication. With a
long history of appreciation for and involvment
in the underground dance music scene, the young
contemplative noticed how the visual element of
our compounded culture was increasingly of poor
quality or missing entirely. Spectr realized his
passion-driven, artistic self had the power to
bring new flavor and enthusiasm to the dancefloor
masses -- tagged "Visual Junglism."
Spectrumega
Media was established on this principle
inspiration and vividly promotes the
highest-quality production and potent expression
of the visual medium. One can instantly recognize
Spectrs main artistic influences as urban
grafitti, cartoon imagery, and science fiction
design. He sees cyber-futurism and urban survival
as powerful and integral images for our modern
culture in general and junglism in particular.
Raised
in LoCal, Spectr was always fascinated with the
vibe here is Sucka Free (San Francisco). "I
was eager to connect with this energy," he
says. "Through R.A.W. [the well-known LA
junglist a.k.a. B-Boy 3000], I hooked up with
Flux of the B.A.S.S. Kru and did my first party,
Eminence, about three years ago. My
connection with B.A.S.S. Kru led to doing visuals
for their parties in the Bay Area and they
introduced me to the Eklektic ladies." The
constancy of the Eklektic Thursday night weekly
function brought wider recognition to his work
with their circuit of featured Stateside and
international playaz.
"By enhancing the
environment we enhance the subject." -Spectr
Recently,
Spectr and his crew, Gear and Nuff, have enhanced
the environment of venues in Chicago and for such
shows as the Breakbeat Era tour and their own
event, Heavy Sound Seminar III which
took place in SF, LA and San Diego over the
course of three weekends.
Spectrumega Media has
also started a clothing company, Drumz, which has
released a series of t-shirts and sweatshirts
that bear the phrase "Undaground Drumz will
Never Die" -- representing the universal
link many of us think and feel about time and
music, Drumz is tied to the intense rythym of our
culture, a concrete manifestation in the form of
phat gear. You see, when you buy from Drumz, the
money goes not to some disconnected corporation
but back into drum & bass culture.
