Get
your system ready for the ultimate electric acid test with infinite urban rhythms and
urban visions. A voyeuristic dream full of color and sound. You've never tasted music like
this before! |
Chillas, an interactive music adventure
available on CD-ROM, will play on your Mac or PC. The crew at Modified--based in Bath,
UK--have harnessed the creative source for beatheads of all kinds. Turn up the bass,
loosen up your wrists and get ready to roll!
These futuristic audio-video mixdowns are based at the 24-cube "Upfront
Selector" screen where different breaks, drums, and ambient rhythms align in
auto-jungle mode. Listen as the soundscape shifts with a click of your mouse on the
ever-changing videographic loop board. There are a host of keyboard commands that will set
up the patterns as you like it.
Dive into the full-on "Drum
'n' Bass Cruiser," the "Surroundsound Hip Hop Groove" or the "House
Cruiser". Bring on new voice samples and breakbeats, spare it all down to the drums
and activate the "frEQuency" audio extracts. If you need to take a break,
Chillas will take you for a ride as it plays out different textures on it's own, changing
rates in a heartbeat..
While you're working on other applications on your desktop, you can continue your
Chillas experience by activating the Groove Cruisers--attack, coolout, float, islammer,
skank and stepup--made up of their own unique breakbeats and overlays which respond to
your mouseclicks.
Chillas gives you the freedom to import your own audio and video samples, plus you can
save any particular mix on the fly by simply hitting the number keys on your keyboard,
where it is stored in "The Mix Bank." You can load up your saved mix and tweak
it in the "Sound Studio," where all the drum and ambient samples are stored for
you to weave together on the 8-track realtime media sequencer.
You can send your mixes off to your friends and share them with the crew back at
Modified. Be sure to check back on their webspace
for new mixes and grooves to update your Chillas package.
The possibility of using the visual interface as an interactive art installment at a
club is what the Radio-V team wants to hear about! What
are you up to with your Chillas? |
